So I am having dinner with an oil executive and he says “…now, I hold Mike responsible…”. he was referring to all of the addled phone users who are missing out on the life that is so evidently taking place, right in front of them.
And he wasn’t just referring to human behavior in restaurant environments that we see so commonly. Nor did he mean the ‘time wasting’ which can be understandable in: subways, airports, and train stations. In this particular case, he was plainly disappointed in (all of the) people who seem so unaware of the physical world. Like these museum visitors in the midst of the terra-cotta warriors – the quarter-scale ones – that are a wonder of the world.
Talk about putting the ethical shoe on the other foot! Maybe I should try having dinner with someone from Goldman Sachs soon.
